Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian mockumentary that gained a lot of success in Canada, and a more ‘underground’ and cult following around much of the rest of the world.
It focuses mainly, but not entirely (all the characters get time and space to develop, which is part of its greatness), on two petty criminals who live in a trailer park, and can’t seem to stay out of jail, named Ricky and Julian, and their malleable, just-wants-to-do-the-right-thing friend called Bubbles, who they often save from jail-time. Although, with that said, Bubbles is naturally a bit of a petty criminal himself, making a living from stealing shopping carts, and I suppose they all just want to do the right thing, it just isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the others. It’s a very central and entrenched part of Bubbles.
If you were to put them together, into one being, Ricky would be the unconscious, without-a-brain hands and legs, the doer, Julian would be the brain and intellect, and Bubbles would be the ‘heart’ and wisdom, connecting both. Together, they try to come up with elaborate schemes in order to make a lot of money, and fast, much to the dismay of Jim Lahey, the alcoholic trailer park supervisor, and his assistant (and cheese burger loving, gay lover, who sometimes gets to low points in his life, where he prostitutes himself for cheeseburgers), Randy, who always try to stay a step ahead of them, but always seem to end up two steps behind.
Here is a montage of clips from the show.
Sadly, it ended in 2008, after seven seasons, two movies, and a Christmas special. There are other Trailer Park Boys related things out there, but if you really enjoy it, and get into it so much that you’d like to see them, I’ll let you have the pleasure of finding them for yourself.
